Project Press Release

December 2025. Aiimi has been selected as a solution provider to Canada’s Candu Energy Inc. to roll-out a cutting-edge workplace AI platform.

Bringing together a range of critical data sources for the first time - including crucial design documents and blueprints dating back decades - the platform will enable Candu Energy teams to leverage AI as an assist tool, to search for information instantly.

Candu Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of AtkinsRéalis, is the Original Equipment Manufacturer for CANDU nuclear reactors, which supply approximately 15% of Canada’s overall electricity requirements.

The new three-year deal with Aiimi comes at a time when global energy consumption continues to rise, making sources of reliable, low-carbon power more important than ever. This year, renewable energy overtook coal as the world's leading source of electricity for the first time.

AI is not yet commonly used to support design and maintenance in the nuclear energy sector, and the deal marks one of the first AI solutions of its kind for Candu Energy. This comes following the successful completion of a comprehensive two-month pilot in 2025, during which Aiimi efficiently implemented the workplace AI platform on Candu Energy’s private cloud.

Following a collaborative remote installation, the workplace AI platform has launched to teams across Candu Energy. Supported by Aiimi’s specialists, the AI platform will be used by the growing team of 2,000 engineers, designers, and quality control and assurance personnel to inform design decisions.

Through a secure integration with Candu Energy’s existing systems, the AI platform enriches, summarises, and instantly surfaces accurate design information dating back decades. This  enables teams to carry out more efficient and effective design changes and maintenance activities - based on historical design rationale - without having to manually search through archives and lengthy documents to access crucial information.

Steve Salvin, CEO & Founder, Aiimi, comments:

“There’s huge potential for production AI within the energy sector and our collaboration with Candu Energy is a great example of this. An AI solution takes on the task of combing through data, so engineers and operatives can spend their valuable time and skills elsewhere.

As a solution provider to Candu Energy, Aiimi will help them make faster, informed decisions as they shape the future of energy. The information we’ve brought to the surface will be used for years, even decades to come.”
